Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. We also use related technologies such as browser localStorage and sessionStorage. We refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.
2. Our approach
Taartu Homes uses only the cookies and local storage strictly necessary to deliver the service you have asked for. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics that profile you. Because all cookies we set are strictly necessary, Kenyan and EU data-protection rules do not require an opt-in banner for them. We still publish this policy so you know what is on your device.
3. Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| laravel_session | Keeps you logged in to your account | 2 hours | Strictly necessary |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Protects against cross-site request forgery | 2 hours | Strictly necessary |
| taartu-locale | Remembers your language choice (English / Swahili) | 1 year | Functional |
| localStorage: auth-token, ui-prefs | Authentication token and UI preferences (sidebar state, theme) | Until you log out or clear browser data | Strictly necessary |
4. Third-party cookies
We embed payment widgets from Paystack when you make a card payment. Paystack may set its own cookies on the payment screen to process the transaction securely. We do not control those cookies; see Paystack's privacy policy for details.
We use Sentry to capture diagnostic data about errors that occur while you use Taartu. Sentry runs without setting tracking cookies and the diagnostic data is retained only as long as needed to fix the issue.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings. Clearing the strictly-necessary cookies will sign you out and may prevent the platform from working until you log in again.
6. Updates
We may update this policy when we add or remove cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the change. For broader data-handling details see our Privacy Policy.
